Yes…’cause winter can really eff up your skin!
So thanks to the change in weather, not only am I now defrosting a thick layer of ice off my car each morning, my skin has also decided to start playing up.
Now I don’t really have any skin conditions, other than sometimes it gets a bit sensitive. But the combination of the makeup products I was using and the weather, was just really drying out my skin! Keep on reading to find out which products i’ve added to my makeup bag this autumn/winter.
New winter additions to my makeup bag
The first change I made to my makeup routine was replacing my foundation. I’ve been using the Nars Radiant Longwear for about a year now. But recently it’s been really drying my skin out and giving me nasty little dry spots. Plus the foundation was looking super cakey and was highlighting the emergence of my little forehead lines (sob!)
So I was recommended the Nars Sheer Glow instead. This formula is much more lightweight and buildable. And leaves my skin looking really fresh and healthy. And I can also confirm that all those nasty dry spots have now gone!
I also switched my primer to the NYX Hyrda Touch. I’m a huge fan of the NYX Yellow Colour Correcting Primer too, but I just wanted a more hydrating primer for winter. I wasn’t expecting as much of a water based formula as it is, which is silly with it having hydra in the name. But the primer feels very natural. And doesn’t feel at all oily or perfumey like some primers.
I’ve also just added the Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Concealer to my makeup bag. With switching to a buildable foundation, I wanted a more of a full coverage concealer. Just so I could target those imperfections and leave the rest of skin to breathe. The Born This Way Super Coverage Concealer comes in a huge range of colours and blends with the Nars foundation really well. So I’m a huge fan!
A huge beauty faux pas I’ve been doing for ages now, is setting my makeup with a coloured Mac powder. I was told by a lady in Mac this was the best way to set your makeup. However, it was making my makeup look cakey and heavy. So I’ve now switched to the Luna translucent powder from October’s Glossy Box.
Skin care products for winter
I’ve finally picked up the Garnier Micellar Water and I can confirm it’s a game changer. My skin has never looked better. And it just leaves my face looking and feeling really fresh! I’m definitely putting my makeup wipes aside and opting for the Gariner Micellar Water every time.
