So I’ve just received my first ever Glossybox!
I know, a bit late to the show aren’t I?
So after seeing a huge hype around beauty advent calender’s last year…I swear everyone and their dog (they actually make doggy ones FYI) had a beauty/candle/cheese/ fancy exotic limited-edition Peruvian chocolate advent calendar made from unicorn tears. Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration, but you get the point.
So this year, I decided I’d jump on the trend by splashing out on the first ever Glossybox beauty calendar (you’ll find out more about that soon!) But subscribers got a whopping £25 off the price! So i’d be silly not to subscribe to Glossybox for a little bit, wouldn’t I? Read on to discover what I thought of my first Glossybox.
Unboxing the October Glossybox
As October obviously means all things halloween, this box didn’t half have a definite theme going on. Which would be super handy if you were donning witch inspired make-up this year! But at the ripe old age of 24, I’m taking a step back this year and just popping on some lace bunny ears with an #AllBlackEverything look. I know, I’m definitely getting old and boring!
In the box I got:
Sleek – Eyeshadow Palette in Oh So Special
The Works – In Transit Camera Close-up
Luna Cosmetics – Translucent Powder
MUA – Luxe Strobe and Glow Highlighter Palette
Illamasqua – Lipstick in shade Nebula
Glossybox October first impressions
I’ll be very very honest and say this is a very mixed bag! I absolutely hated the Illamasqua lipstick in shade Nebula. This bright pink is possibly the most unflattering shade on my skin I’ve come across yet (I’ve popped a pic below so you can see for yourself!) I understand this is a halloween themed box. But when, why and how would I even wear this colour and be able to pull it off?
I’ve not a huge fan of the The Works In Transit Camera Close-up either. It’s a primer and moisturiser, but it smelt soooo overly perfumey. I have sensitive skin and didn’t even dare try this, just from smelling it.
However, I have been after some new translucent Powder anyway. So i’ve been getting along fine with this one from Luna Cosmetics. It’s very lightweight and blends onto my foundation really well. And doesn’t look at all cakey!
As you see from the pics above, the MUA – Luxe Strobe and Glow Highlighter Palette is super pigmented. And both shades are a lovely champagne colour. I can’t wait to play around this product a little more.
I quite like the shades in the Sleek Eyeshadow Palette in Oh So Special. The shades are all very wearable. And (thank god) aren’t exactly halloween themed! I’m looking forward to creating some more daytime looks with this palette.
This is possibly one of my most honest reviews to date, so apologies if it just sounded like a huge moan! What did you think of this month’s Glossybox? Please let me know in the comments!
