Smarty pants, is this the perfect winter palette?
So I’ve been lucky enough to get my mitts on Smarty Pants, the the latest palette from Mac Cosmetics. The palette actually comes out on the 4th October, but I was lucky enough to get it a whole six days earlier!
The palette wasn’t actually gifted though, I was just super nice to the lady in Mac! We got talking and she showed me Smarty Pants and I just couldn’t resist! Read on to discover my thoughts…
Why I opted for Smarty Pants over Cherry by Urban Decay
I come very very close to purchasing the new Cherry palette from Urban Decay. But as my complexion has a yellow undertone, I didn’t think a palette of strong pink hues would suit me. However, Smarty Pants by Mac seems to be a good middle ground! It has several pinky hues I can experiment with and some brown shades that I can easily wear for work.
My initial thoughts on the palette
The palette is a mixture of matte and what I can only describe as ‘glitter shades’. The ‘glitter shades’ aren’t as scary as they appear in the palette, but instead, they apply to achieve a really subtle look! It’s not the full on Barry M effect, (although I do love this look for festivals!) but instead, they’re really subtle and buildable.
The highlight is very similar to the one in the power hungry palette but this shade is a lot less golden. So I suppose more of a winter highlight?
Adding the perfect lip colour
I’ve teamed Smarty Pants with my latest lipstick from Too Faced, in the shade Over Exposed (Read more about my obsession here!) I accidentally picked up the wrong shade yesterday, oops! But luckily, Over Exposed works really well with the Smarty Pants palette.
