Yes the girl that hates the treadmill, is running a race!
I’ve been asked to get involved with the Global Energy Race, taking place in Rotherham County Park on Sunday 23rd September. I’ve never ran a race before, so with being quite into fitness, I decided I’d take on the challenge!
About the The Global Energy Race
New York Bakery Co, the leading producer of authentic bagels, will once again be hosting The Global Energy Race, a one-of-a-kind running event taking place on 23rd September across 38 cities in 21 countries. The race will be an official Guinness World Record attempt for the most races taking place in the most cities around the globe, on a single day.
The UK edition of this global event will take place in the beautiful setting of Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, just a few miles from the home of New York Bakery Co. – hosts of the event and producers of up to a million authentic bagels each day. I lived in Sheffield for almost a year and never got the chance to see Rother Valley Country Park, so i’m super excited to run here!
Most importantly, for every kilometer run, New York Bakery Co. will donate a bagel to local food banks, in partnership with The Trussell Trust – UK Foodbank Network giving emergency food and support to people in crisis across the UK. This means that if a thousand people collectively run 10k, New York Bakery Co. will donate 10,000 bagels. But that’s not all, New York Bakery Co. will also donate every registration fee too! I know, amazing right?
Who can get involved?
The Global Energy race is perfect for all abilities! Whether you’re a competitive runner, a family, kids, parents with strollers or those new to running entirely (like me!), entrants can choose from a 3k, 5k or 10k distance. Every participant who registers will receive a collectable t-shirt and medal, while the fastest male and female finishers in the 10k race will win a trip for themselves and a companion to race in The Global Energy Race 2019 in Madrid.
Check out how I get on:
I’ll be tweeting and posting on the gram throughout the event tomorrow, so make sure to to see how I get on!
