Spring/Summer trends: the going out clothes

I don’t know about you, but as a girl sometimes I just get into a bit of a rut with myself. I wear the same style clothes, do my hair the same way everyday, and eventually I just get bored. That’s why, when I purchased a few new going out outfits, I forced myself to go for things I wouldn’t normally wear. (I pretty much always wear all black).

Plus I was gernerally feeling a bit down about the way I looked, and wanted what I was calling ‘wow’ outfits…just to boast my self-confidence a bit.

Here’s a few bits I got before I headed back to university:

This co-ord is from Missguided, and including student discount, came to about £42. Although I think it’s abit pricey for Missguided, it really is so nice on and defintely worth the price…the floor really doesn’t do it justice!

The good thing about a co-ord is that most of  the time, the two pieces can be mixed and matched. Plus I discovered the top looks really cute with my 70s style denim skirt! (click here for post)

The thing I love about the outfit is the nude colour and the lace, which instantly just channels summer!

11157917_10204179034141514_1132317709_nI thought this outfit would probably look better on, rather than on the floor…so I thought a selfie was needed!

This skirt is from Missguided and was only £13 with student discount! It not only is the on trend ‘rust’ colour, but also is really flattering due to the asymmetric wrap over detail.

I initially bought a white lace bralet from Missguided also, but unfortunately it was out of stock. However, I only annoyingly found this out, when the package arrived this morning! However, I just used it as an excuse to pop to the metro centre and purchase this lacy white crop top, from Topshop.

I wouldn’t normally buy a bralet style top from Topshop, as I think there so overpriced compared to the links of Missguided and Miss Selfridge, however this was only £21, so I can’t really complain that much.

I bought these nude lace up heels from Public Desire for around £25 including delivery. (There’s currently an increased student discount offer).

I really like the lace up heel trend, but as soon as I put them on, I instantly didn’t feel like they were very ‘me’. My best friend reassured me it’s because I’m used to only really wearing chunky heels, and because they’re something different…so hopefully they’ll grow on me!

I went for the nude, as nude is supposed to make your legs look longer…at 5ft4  need it! Plus nude pretty much goes with everything. Due to only owning black shoes, I knew I needed to get some summer heels, so I’m really hoping I learn to love them on, as much as I loved them on the website.

What to do think of my outfit choices? What do you love and hate about the current Spring/Summer trends? Let me know!

April make-up haul

If you’ve been reading my blog, you’ll know I tend to buy most of my make-up in bulk. I do this to prevent me from wasting big chunks of my loan in Boots and Superdrug…it’s easily done! So when I walked into Superdrug the other day and saw everything was 3 for 2, I took it as an opportunity to stock up before I go back to uni.

The products:

1. Maybelline brow satin
2. Rimmel Accelerator mascara
3. Rimmel scandaleyes waterproof mascara
4. MUA blusher in Lolly
5. MUA matte perfecter primer
6. Barry M sunset in Like a nude
7. Barry M sunset topcoat
8. MUA lip lacquer in Rococo

I absolutely love the Maybelline brow satin, I’d defintely say it’s my favourite 11149203_10204151752019478_1600111814_neyebrow product I’ve found so far! It’s double ended, with a penicil on one end, and the ‘satin’ with a sponge applicator on the other. It’s not really a product you’d buy if you want neat eyebrows, but for fuller looking eyebrows it’s definitely spot on. For only £5.99, it’s a product worth trying.

The rimmel mascara is my go to mascara!  It gives a long, natural look to eyebrows, without giving you any of them nasty clumps. It’s a perfect mascara if you don’t like false eyelashes, but want a similar effect. The rimmel eyeliner is a product I always wear on a night out. It gives a really stand out affect to your eyes, and always stays on all night. The only problem is, it probably is a bit too much for a day-time, so if it’s a new day time eye-liner you’re after, I wouldn’t recommend this.

I’ve tried lots of different primers this year, but they always seem to either make my make-up look cakey, or make my skin really greasy. Or the worse case scenario, was the allergic reaction I got from a rimmel one! However, this MUA product comes out in a pink colour and goes on quite well because it’s not really that thick. I think it’s definitely a product that will work well when the weather gets warmer, as I don’t really like wearing a lot of make-up in the summer.

Also, I decided to try a new blusher as I’ve heard good things from the MUA blushes, and I don’t tend to wear blusher. With now having lighter hair, I know I’ll have to adjust my make-up routine, so I’m trying out a few different shades on my face. I really like the colour of this blush as it’s more of a pinky brown, but the photo doesn’t really do it justice. For a £1, you can’t really go wrong.

I’m going through a bit of a lip product stage, so for £3 I couldn’t really resist! The MUA product goes on like a pinky brown, and is very similar to a range from rimmel. However, make sure you put two coats on, as the first coat tends to fade.

It’s been a while since there’s been a really good brand new Barry M nail product,11094059_10204151745459314_1286902167_n but this was definitely worth the wait! The nail varnish claims to give you salon quality nails, and so far, I can’t fault them!

The only problem with the new range, is that it’s slightly more expensive, and you have to buy the special top coat. Plus the colours are a bit limited so far. However, I really like this colour, so I don’t really have anything bad to say. If you want a new nail product, TRY THIS!

Lastly, it wouldn’t wouldn’t be a make up haul without stocking up on my favourite eyelashes! These eyelure 141s are around £5 from Superdrug, and give a really natural look, without that obvious you’re wearing false eyelashes effectIf you love eyelure, get yourself to Superdrug, they have the best range by far!

11149049_10204151712338486_239049100_nRight now in Superdrug, as well as the 3 for 2 offer they have on, if you buy any 3 make-up products you get this make up bag for free! It’s not really that big, so it’s perfect to shot in your bag.

What did you think of my haul? What’s your opinions on these products? Let me know!

Do blondes really have more fun?

I have pretty much spent the last three years of my life going from brown, to blonde to back again.

I see a photo of myself blonde and I always miss it so much…then as soon as I’m blonde, I miss my natural colour. It really is a viscous circle of bleach!

Being brunette there’s so much less to worry about! No need for expensive conditioning treatments, purple shampoo, or worrying (too much) about what heat can do to your poor hair.

I’d hit a hair rut. I really love my hair short, but I was just getting a bit bored of it. I haven’t dyed my hair in a year, so it was in a pretty condition, so I just thought sod it! Over all all it took two rounds of lightening (the first time I wanted more blonde put in), and about 4 hours of work by my hairdresser friend Ashlee.

I opted for a high dip dye, with highlights towards my roots.

As a student I really couldn’t afford to constantly dye my hair blonde professionally, so a dip dye was definitely my best bet! I didn’t want to be too blonde either, as even a dark blonde is still a shock to the system from dark brown!

Anyone that’s ever been blonde, will know this product is an absolute life saver! It takes all them ugly brassy tones that you tend to get being blonde, and makes them nice and blonde.

You can pick it up from ASDA or a discount shop for around £2.

However you have to follow the instructions on the bottle, or you will actually end up with silver hair…apparently?

All I’m looking for now is a really good conditioning treatment or a hair mask. I really don’t know much about the different brands, as they all seem to say the same on the tub. So if anyone knows of a really good one, please comment below!

My top ten favourite Teesside spots

Seen as I’m back in Teesside for the Easter holidays, I thought I’d do a Teesside related post! (Insert cheesey picture of me)11124566_10204130695253072_1158291919_n

When people think Teesside, apparently all they think of is smog, parmos, and the fact they think everyone lives in a house like Billy Elliot. However, what they don’t see is the North Yorkshire countryside, cute little towns like Stokesly and Yarm, and the stunning seaside coast along Saltburn cliffs!

Here is my top ten favourite places in Teesside. I obviously had to include my favourite restaurant and bar, ’cause eating and drinking cocktails are obviously big parts of my life!

1. Preston park:
My favourite place in Teesside! I love sitting on the jetty on the Tees, because it’s just so scenic and quiet down there. Plus in my opinion, it’s the nicest stretch of the River Tees.

2. Saltburn:
I loved going to Saltburn as a kid, and going up and down lifts. (Visible in the picture). Even at my age, me and my friends still love going on the pier.

3. Great Ayton:
Another place I loved going as a child! The river is so pretty, and the ice cream is arguably the best in Teesside.

4. Roseberry topping:
Obviously as a lank mark, this had to make the list! I’m not going to lie, I’ve only been up it once and nearly half killed myself in the process! But the view of Coastline and the North Yorkshire countryside is definitely worth it!

5. Flatts Lane Woodlands centre:
Bit of a random one, but I love living so close to the countryside, and being able to walk my dog through the hills. (Well it only really happens once or twice a year…sorry Radley!) Plus I have loads of funny memories there…Like the time me and my friend Tom got stuck the climbing frame in the dark, because a fox was below us and wouldn’t move!

6. Tees barrage:
I love the Tees barrage, but the photo really doesn’t do it justice! Another spot that’s cute to just sit and chill at…plus I don’t mind the pub there!

7. The Dickens Inn:
My favourite cocktail bar in Middlesbrough obviously had to make the list! Plus it’s the venue that held my 18th!

8. Yarm:
Yarm is such a cute little country town. Plus the cocktails from the Keys are pretty spot on! And it’s apparently the best highstreet in the country!

9. Hemlington lake:
We accidentally stumbled across the lake a few summers ago, and I’m so happy I did! Because as you can probably tell by the photo below, it’s such a cute spot to just sit and chill by the lake.

10. Manjaros:
Because you can’t visit Teesside and not get a parmo! Plus everything else on the menu is spot on!
